A Lettuce Leaf
Okay, this is mainly for the girls, I thought
it would be fun to seriously discuss how to select the juiceiest
and crispiest lettuce leaf - Hey! We single folk have got
to keep in shape! You never know, "the one" may
be around the corner and when you bump into him/her, you'll
need to ensure they don't just bounce straight off! This is
serious stuff...
I'll start with my number 1 piece of advice
when selecting a lettuce leaf, make sure it has a really big,
juicy caterpiller sat with a wide, replete grin plastered
on his/her face. There's your vitamins and protein all packaged
nicely in that one leaf. The danger here, of course is, if
you were to bump into "the one" around the very
next corner they may not notice they had bumped into you at
all and if you happened to be standing sideways at the time,
they probably won't even notice you... So, okay, let us add
size to the important criteria list when purchasing the juiciest,
crispiest lettuce leaf. And would it be cheating to spice
your lettuce leaf up a bit with a sprig of watercress? I think
a sprig of watercress can be allowed so long as it is organic
watercress. Come to think of it! We should only be buying
an organically grown lettuce leaf as, apart from the awful
chemicals growers use to kill insects, organically grown lettuce
will be enriched with natural minerals from uncontaminated
soil, which brings us to seasoning your chosen lettuce leaf.
I recommend very light use of salt, and I'm talking here of
two or three grains on natural rock salt, and, maybe, a slight
dusting of pepper and the merest drizzle of extra virgin olive
oil may well compound the juiciness.... And whallah! Your
evening meal is ready....
